"My son was seen in the Danville ER in January for a very infectious bacteria called C Diff. It was documented that his allergies were reveiwed in Triage but NO allergy band was placed on which became an issue when a CT was ordered with contrast WHICH HE IS ALLERGIC to!! Protocol for C Diff is STRICT handwashing entering and leaving his room BUT NO ONE, NOT ONE caregiver washed there hands, even after touching him. The resident had a yellow isolation stethoscpe that should have remained in the room but he was wearing out in the hallway. In the Patient HandOut, it states that hand washing is better than alcohol based hand cleaners for C Diff. It also states that Healthcare workers should wear gloves and gowns when entering the room of a patient with C Diff. Nope.....didn't happen. Person with C Diff should be in Private rooms....Nope, he was using the same bathroom as all the other patients for over 3 hours with no sign posted that his bathroom may have been contaminated. I found the staff bathroom to use. His BP was highly elevated, skin dry and tenting but NO IVF given.I could go on but you get the drift. NEVER again will I put anyone of my loved ones in this facility where the delivery of care is so egregious and UNSAFE for the patient and all others. Giving one star is being way to generous. Yes I am a retired RN and DO know what I am talking about."

"I'm writing this review for the Geisinger orthopedic dept and the HFAM 6 team. I was a part of a program through my insurance called Destinantion medicine and I was to have my hip replaced and it had to be through a " Centers of excellence" location and Geisinger was where I was being sent to (I reside in DE). I was set to have my hip replaced by Dr. Lietman. Most of my communication was through Veronica and some with Heidi (forgive me I forget their titles) and they were a part of Dr. Lietman's Ortho team. Veronica was absolutely amazing! I called her constantly with all kinds of questions leading up to my procedure and she handled all of my questions and concerns with such amazing care and grace. When I finally arrived at Geisinger and had my first appointment in person I was greeted by Jeff to get me started with my appointment and he was an absolute god send. Here I was 3 hours away from home preparing to receive a pretty major surgery and my anxiety was through the roof. Jeff eased my calms and worries by matching my kind of humor and that was really what the doctor ordered. Veronica popped in during this appointment to check in with me and to take and handle all of my FMLA and STD forms and get those sent off to where they needed to go which was a huge blessing because that was one less thing that I had to worry about and she made sure that everything was sent in a very efficient time frame and made sure that I had visual on all of it. My day of surgery came and I was a wreck. I was crying because I was scared, I was thinking of my husband and my girls back at home and was just so worried about something happening to me and not making it back home to my family. All the nurses and OR prep team went into mama bear mode for me and offered me so much comfort and even a few shoulders to cry on. Obviously I made out just fine through my surgery or I would not be writing this. Dr. Lietman did an amazing job! He personally is a bit of a dry individual and me I need someone to joke with, but where he lacks in my type of humor he truly makes up in his craft. I was informed by several individuals that he was the best in the hip replacement business and for where I am 18 days post surgery with no complications I can say he really knows his stuff. The next part of my journey brought me to HFAM6. I was supposed to be discharged either same day of my procedure or next day. I was not discharged from this unit till 2/1/26 and it was a mix of a slight blood pressure issue when I first arrived and the fact that we were struggling to get my pain under control (that part was my fault. I fought taking pain meds because they terrify me) During my stay I had the most amazing ladies seeing me through my difficult days. I never thought at 39 years old I would need assistance wiping myself but here I was needing that support and everyone that had to support in this ensured that I did not feel like I lost my dignity during these moments. My PT and OT team and were just as amazing. I felt like they also went into mama bear mode to help me through some of my low emotional moments and Pam from OT made sure that I had the tools and knowledge that I needed for when I went home to maintain some of my wonder woman independence that was important to me. From the first day that I stepped foot into this hospital to the day I was safely discharged was an absolute 50 star experience! I'm so sorry that I did not take note to every persons name so I would have it handy for when I wrote this review. Thank you to everyone for seeing me through this process and helping me stand tall when I could not do so on my own! To the person that sees this review on Geisinger's behalf please make sure that all of the ladies of the HFAM 6 team along with my PT and OT folks are able to see this too. I want all of them to know the difference that they made for me while I was in their care. Best, Jessica Joswick"

"Worst ER. Headaches, clumsiness, seizure-like tremors… Neuro REFUSED to come see my son. Yes; “refused” confirmed by the ER resident. Told us they could get him as OutPt for an urgent appointment in 3 days; then literally sent a lady in here saying they had nothing for 3 months!!! No patient advocate available either. Given a card to call during business hours for both scheduling and pt advocate."
